I am constantly being asked about individuals. The only way to win is as a team. Football is not about one or two or three star players. - Pele

RYS Uniforms

Every child registered to play soccer as part of RYS will receive a team jersey and/or uniform kit every year, depending on age group.

Pre-K/K U6 players will receive a RYS uniform with a sponsor’s name on the back at their first practice. Players will be broken up into 4 groups, each with a different color jersey.  We do ask that each child wear this uniform to each weekly practice so that the coaches can quickly identify who should and should not be on the field.

U8 players will receive a RYS uniform with a sponsor’s name on the back at their first practice. U8 will be divided into 7 or 8 different teams, so each team will have a different uniform color.  Each child should wear their jersey to each practice. Teams may end up having a small scrimmage at the end of practice. Jersey’s should also be worn to Sunday  .

U10 and above will receive a RYS uniform kit. This kit includes a numbered jersey, shorts and socks. New uniform kits are received every year, so a child may not have the same number each year. It is important that players wear the current year jersey they were given. Coaches are required to provide approved, signed copies of their rosters to the referee before each game, and these rosters include jersey numbers. Most coaches complete one roster, with jersey numbers, at the beginning of the season, and photocopy them for each game. If your child arrives and their jersey number does not match the one provided for that season, the referee will not allow them to play. No jewelry is permitted to be worn during games. This includes, watches, fit bits and piercings (even if taped). Casts are also no permitted. Unless a coach has specifically instructed the team to wear their uniform to a practice, they are only required for games. They do need to be tucked in.

Shin guards and cleats must be worn at the U8 and older levels. Shin guards are required at Pre-K/K U6, but cleats are not required.
