Some additional background:
Since the inception of Rutland Youth Soccer, RYS has happily shared town owned field space with other Rutland sporting leagues and school activities. It has been a great partnership and has built collaboration between the organizations. However, like the town of Rutland’s population, youth sports are experiencing tremendous growth. One of the trends having an impact on the youth sports organizations is the increase in multi season participation. In other words, soccer is no longer just a fall sport and baseball are not simply a spring sport. Rutland Youth Soccer, in its desire to be a leader in our community, believes it is in the best interest of the town and residents to develop additional soccer fields in town.
During the fall 2018 season, there were:
Nearly 400 children register for our U6 and older programs
56 home games scheduled in Rutland at the U10, U12, U14 and High School Levels
83 three- and four-year old’s registered for U6 Pre-K
53 Kindergartners registered for U6 Kindergarten
74 children registered for U8 (1st/2nd grade)
64 children registered for U10 (3rd/4th grade)
54 children registered for U12 (5th/6th grade)
26 children registered for U14 (7th/8th grade)
37 children registered for High School level
With the award of the lease, RYS would provide management and maintenance of the field space. In addition to improving the quality of the soccer programs offered to the residents of Rutland, this improvement will add value to the school property including additional parking spaces. Both the town and RYS benefit by creating a central point of operation for soccer around Glenwood Elementary School and the Glenwood Community Center.
